#42 Excerpt from New Covenant Israel Ch. V

Saul and David Prefigure Transferred Israel.

To better understand how Israel became saved/spiritual, we will use an outline to assist in recognizing similarities between this people and two kings of the united monarchy of Israel, Saul and David. We will here compare the true historical narrative of Saul to Israel after the flesh while David will represent spiritual Israel.

1. God chose [ _____ ] for a specific purpose.

2. [ _____ ] would have been established by God forever ( ) if [ _____ ] was holy.

3. But because the law could not make anyone holy (For the law made nothing perfect,.. -Hebrews 7:19), it is by faith that it might be by grace (Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace;.. -Romans 4:16) which was the plan all along ( ).

4. So [ _____ ] sinned. ( ).

5. And the Kingdom was taken from [ _____ ] and given to [ _____ ]. ( ).

Now, let’s take this outline and first apply Saul and David to it.

1. God chose [Saul] for a specific purpose.

2. [Saul] would have been established by God forever (And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the Lord thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would the Lord have established thy kingdom upon Israel for ever, -1 Samual 13:13) if [Saul] was holy.

3. But because the law could not make anyone holy (For the law made nothing perfect,.. -Hebrews 7:19) it is by faith that it might be by grace (Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace;.. -Romans 4:16) which was the plan all along (The sceptre shall not depart from Judah,.. -Genesis 49:10).

4. So [Saul] sinned. (And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice. 1 Samuel 15:24).

5. And the Kingdom was taken from [Saul] and given to [David].(And Samuel said unto him, The Lord hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbour of thine, that is better than thou. -1 Samuel 15:28).

Continuing with this theme, let us now see the same outline, but this time with carnal Israel and Spiritual Israel.Remember, Carnal Israel is the fleshly descendants of Jacob, while Spiritual Israel are the born again descendants of Jacob and saved Gentiles that have been grafted into Israel.

1. God chose [Carnal Israel] for a specific purpose.

2. [Carnal Israel] would have been established by God forever (O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. -Matthew 23:37-38) if [Carnal Israel] was holy.

4. So [Carnal Israel] sinned. (For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the Lord their God,.. -2 Kings 17:7).

5. And the Kingdom was taken from [Carnal Israel] and given to[Spiritual Israel]. (Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. -Matthew 21:43).
